I stop on a bridge and catch my breath. This is looking south from a bridge on lafayette blvd.

I've been averaging about 38 miles per week on my bike. The exercise has made my back stop hurting constantly. What a surprise?

American Traditions

If there are any habits that people in the united states have in general, they are infantile compared to practically every other country.

Most of the time I feel like I'm not part of any traditions. Definately, not any ancient ones.

There is a seductive allure to the mysteries that I imagine as ancient traditions.

I was looking at a lighter the other day, and it's brand name was "American Match".

It occured to me that one American tradition that I am trying to stay away from is excess.

The reason why the brand name triggered this thought was, the brand name itself implies that all other matches are just that, matches. But an American Match is a complex machine that, at a flick of the thumb, solves the problem of fire and is better than anyone else's match.
